The Heavy Chevy was designed by Ira Gilford. It is based on a 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle, modified in the style of the "Spoilers" series.
It was released in 1970 as part of the "Spoilers" series and came with Redline (RL) wheels.
Like other "Spoilers," it features a chrome-plated base that incorporates a large, exposed engine and side-exit exhausts that protrude through the diecast body. The casting is based on the Chevelle but was named "Heavy Chevy," a nod to a real-world Chevy performance package.
It is a direct contemporary of the other "Spoilers" cars, the "King Kuda" and "Boss Hoss." It is a modified version of what would become the '70 Chevelle SS casting.
It was produced in many Spectraflame colors, with blue and purple being common. U.S. and Hong Kong versions have slight casting differences.
