The Custom Mustang was designed by Harry Bentley Bradley. Based on the 1967 Ford Mustang fastback, it is one of the "Original 16" cars.
Released in 1968, it was produced with Redline (RL) wheels until 1969.
The Custom Mustang features an opening hood and louvers on the rear fastback window. The design of the taillights and grille differ slightly between the U.S. and Hong Kong manufactured versions.
Part of the "Sweet 16," it was one of the first "pony cars" in the Hot Wheels lineup, alongside the Custom Camaro and Custom Cougar. It was the first of many Mustang castings.
It was produced in all original Spectraflame colors, with blue and aqua being very common. Interior colors vary.
