The Classic '31 Ford Woody was designed by Ira Gilford. It is based on a 1931 Ford Model A Woody wagon, but customized in a hot rod style.
It was first released in 1969 and was part of the mainline "Hot Wheels" series (often called the Redline series). It was produced from 1969 to 1971.
This casting has a very detailed and intricate design. It features an exposed engine, a removable plastic roof, and a highly detailed interior. The rear "wood" paneling is part of the diecast body. U.S.-made versions have a detailed steering wheel and dashboard, which are absent in the Hong Kong versions.
It is one of several classic Ford hot rods from the original Redline era, along with the '32 Ford Vicky and the '36 Ford Coupe. However, the woody wagon body style makes it unique.
It was produced in a wide range of Spectraflame colors, with brown and green being the most common. The color of the plastic roof could vary (black, white, or champagne). Rare versions with a painted black roof exist.
