The Race Bait 308 was designed by Larry Wood. It is based on the Ferrari 308 GTB, a famous Italian mid-engine V8 sports car.
The casting debuted in 1978. Model 4359 is from a 1982 "Real Riders" series release.
The casting accurately captures the iconic low-slung, wedge-shaped design of the Ferrari 308. The 1982 Real Riders version came in yellow with racing graphics and featured rubber Real Riders tires on gray hubs. The rear engine cover opens.
This was one of the first Ferrari models made by Hot Wheels. It is a contemporary of other 70s supercars like the Lamborghini Countach. The name "Race Bait" was used to avoid licensing fees at the time.
The initial 1978 release was red. It was a very popular casting, released in many colors, including black and white.
