Model History

Designer and Inspiration:

The Deora was designed by Harry Bentley Bradley. It is based on the real-life Deora concept truck built by the Alexander Brothers. It is one of the "Original 16" Hot Wheels.

Historical Context and Production Years:

Released in 1968, it was produced with Redline (RL) wheels until 1969.

Unique Aspects:

The Deora has a radical, futuristic design with no hood and entry through a front-opening windshield. The Hot Wheels version came with two plastic surfboards mounted in the bed. The base of the U.S. version reads "Deora," while the Hong Kong version is simply marked "Custom Fleetside" (a base error).

Similar Castings:

The Deora is one of the most unique and recognizable Hot Wheels designs ever made. It is part of the "Original 16" and is a classic fantasy design. A modern sequel, the Deora II, was created in 2000.

Variations and Special Editions:

It was produced in all original Spectraflame colors. The surfboards can be found in different colors, most commonly red or yellow. The base variation is a key point for collectors.
