The Gremlin Grinder was designed by Larry Wood. It is based on an AMC Gremlin, modified in a road racing or "customer" style.
It debuted in 1975 as part of the "Flying Colors" series. Model 7652 with Redline (RL) wheels is from this first year.
This casting features wide, bolt-on fender flares, a front air dam, and a small rear spoiler, giving it a track-ready appearance that is much more subdued than its "Greased Gremlin" counterpart. The first release was in green with racing tampos.
It is the stockier, more realistic version of a modified Gremlin, compared to the drag-focused "Greased Gremlin." It is similar in concept to the "Poison Pinto."
After its Redline debut, it was produced with Blackwall wheels. It was also released in yellow and orange.
