The P-911 was designed by Larry Wood. It is based on a Porsche 911 Carrera RS with a large "whale tail" spoiler, modified for racing. The "P" stands for Porsche.
It was first released in 1975 under the name "Porsche Carrera." The model number 7648 is associated with its 1976 release in the "Super Chromes" series, where it was renamed P-911. The earliest versions had Redline (RL) wheels.
The casting is famous for its large rear whale tail spoiler and wide racing fenders. The "Super Chromes" version features a brilliant, chrome-plated body, often with red and blue stripes. It has an opening rear engine cover.
This is one of the earliest Porsche 911 castings from Hot Wheels. It is the predecessor to many later 911 models, but its 70s racing style is very distinct.
The initial 1975 "Porsche Carrera" release was in white enamel. The "Super Chromes" version is a key variation. It was produced for many years and has numerous color and wheel variations.
