The Split Window '63 was designed by Larry Wood. It is based on the iconic 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray coupe, famous for its one-year-only split rear window.
The casting was first released in 1980 under the name "'63 Corvette." Model 4354 corresponds to its 1983 release in the "Real Riders" series, where it was named Split Window '63.
The casting faithfully reproduces the famous split rear window. The 1983 Real Riders version came in metalflake gold with red and brown stripes. Its defining feature is the rubber Real Riders tires with "GOOD YEAR" lettering, mounted on chrome 5-spoke wheels. The hood opens.
This is one of many C2 Corvette castings, but it is the most famous due to the split window feature.
The initial 1980 mainline release was red. It has been a very popular casting, released in dozens of colors and premium editions over the years, including as a Treasure Hunt.
