The Dodge D-50 was designed by Larry Wood. It is based on the Dodge Ram 50 (a rebadged Mitsubishi Mighty Max), a popular compact pickup truck in the 1980s.
The casting debuted in 1981 under the name "Minitrek." It was renamed Dodge D-50 for its 1985 release in the "Real Riders" series, which corresponds to model 1133.
This casting often came with a plastic camper shell and a motorcycle accessory in the bed. The 1985 Real Riders version is black with red and yellow stripes and features rubber Real Riders tires with a knobby tread, mounted on chrome hubs.
It is similar to other compact truck castings of the era, such as the Toyota Hilux or the Chevy S-10. It is directly related to its earlier "Minitrek" identity.
As the "Minitrek," it came in various colors. The 1985 Real Riders release is the most notable version under the Dodge D-50 name.
