The Flat Out 442 was designed by Larry Wood. It is based on a 1977 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442, heavily modified in the "pro stock" drag racing style.
This casting was first released in 1980. The model 2506 corresponds to its 1983 release in "The Hot Ones" series with GHO wheels.
The casting has a dramatically raked stance, with a massive engine and supercharger bursting through the hood. It features huge rear drag slicks tucked under the body. "The Hot Ones" version came in metalflake silver and was known for its speed on the track.
It is part of a series of pro stock-style castings from that era, including the "Greased Gremlin" and the "Hare Splitter."
The initial 1980 release was typically blue. The casting was popular and released in several color schemes throughout the early 80s.
