The Nissan 300ZX was designed by Larry Wood. It is based on the first-generation (Z31) Nissan 300ZX, a popular Japanese T-top sports car from the 1980s.
The casting first appeared in 1985. Model 7529 was part of "The Hot Ones" series from that year.
The casting accurately captures the wedge shape and T-top roof design of the real 300ZX. The 1985 "Hot Ones" release came in white with red and black graphics and featured the fast GHO wheels.
It is a contemporary of other 80s Japanese T-top sports cars in the Hot Wheels line, like the '82 Supra and the Mitsubishi Starion.
It was a popular casting and was released in many colors in the mainline, including red, black, and yellow.
