Delivery Truck
The Delivery Truck, also known as the "Divco Delivery Truck," was designed by Larry Wood. It is based on the classic Divco "Snub-Nose" delivery van, a common sight on American streets for decades.
The casting was first released in 1988. Model 2808 is a 1989 promotional version for Wonder Bread, which came with Blackwall (BW) wheels.
The casting has a distinctive, rounded, vintage shape. A unique feature is that the entire metal body can be lifted up and tilted forward, hinging at the front bumper to reveal the plastic interior and chassis, much like a funny car. The Wonder Bread version is white with the iconic red, yellow, and blue Wonder Bread logo and dots.
It is similar in theme to other delivery vehicle castings like the "GMC Motor Home" or panel vans, but its vintage styling and tilting body make it unique.
The initial 1988 release was for the "Good Humor" ice cream brand. The Wonder Bread version is another famous promotional release. It has been used for many other promotional liveries over the years.
